Terms of service

Version 2026-09-30

Not yet reviewed by a lawyer. These terms are published so that you can see the basis on which SagSwell is offered before you use it or pay for it. They will be reviewed and may change; the version date above tells you when they last did.

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of SagSwell (“we”, “us”) for the use of SagSwell at sagswell.com (“the tool”). By creating an account, subscribing or using the tool you agree to them. If you use it for an organisation, you agree on that organisation’s behalf and confirm you may do so.

1. What the tool is

The tool reads IEEE C37.111 (COMTRADE) record files and computes measurements from them — RMS trends, disturbance detection against IEEE 1159 thresholds, harmonic content, symmetrical components, an impedance-based fault-location estimate and related quantities. It states the method and the assumptions behind every figure it produces.

The tool is an instrument, not an engineer. It does not certify anything, does not determine the cause of an event, and does not assess conformity with any standard. Where a standard is named it is named as the reference a threshold or a curve comes from, not as an assessment against it.

2. Professional responsibility

Output from the tool is input to your engineering judgement, never a substitute for it. Any conclusion, report or recommendation derived from it is the work of the person who prepares it, and that person is responsible for checking it. Every report the tool produces carries a named preparer for exactly this reason.

Safety. Do not use the tool, or anything produced with it, as the sole basis for a switching, energisation, isolation or protection-setting decision, or for any decision affecting the safety of people or plant. Those decisions belong to a qualified person working to your own procedures.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the record files you load and for any values you type in — nominal voltage, line impedance, line length, equipment ratings. The tool cannot know whether a channel was mis-scaled at the recorder, whether a timestamp is right, or whether the impedance you entered matches the circuit. Figures derived from wrong inputs will be wrong. You are also responsible for having the right to use the files you load, and for keeping your sign-in to yourself.

4. Plans, billing and renewal

The tool has a free plan and paid subscriptions. Current prices, in US dollars:

Pro$39 per month, or $390 per year
Team$29.80 per seat per month ($149 for 5 seats)
  • New-account trial. A new account gets the Pro features at no charge for 30 days from the day it is created. No card is asked for, nothing is charged when the trial ends, and the account then continues on the free plan with its files. We may change or end the trial offer for accounts created after the change.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Taxes are added where the law requires them.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, at the price then in force, until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time from Manage billing in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your paid features stay on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and the account then returns to the free plan. Your data is not deleted when you cancel.
  • Refunds. Payments already made are not refunded for a partly used period, except where the law requires a refund or where we have failed to provide the service. If you think you were charged in error, write to us within 30 days and we will look at it.
  • A Team subscription is billed per seat. Adding seats is charged pro rata for the rest of the period.
  • If a payment fails we will retry it; if it still cannot be collected the subscription ends and the account returns to the free plan.
  • We may change prices. A change applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you at least 30 days before it does.

5. No warranty

The tool is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the tool is free of errors, that it reads every recorder’s files correctly, or that it will be available without interruption.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, nor for any loss of profit, revenue, production, data, goodwill or anticipated saving, arising out of or connected with the tool or anything produced with it, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, and whether or not the possibility of that loss was known.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total aggregate liability for all claims connected with the tool is limited to the amount you actually paid for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your use of the tool or of anything produced with it, including any report you issue, except to the extent they arise from wilful misconduct on our part.

8. Your data

Every record is read and analysed in your browser. Without an account, nothing is kept: the files are gone when you close or refresh the page. With an account, the files you add are kept in your account, in the folders you put them in, so that they open on any computer, and nothing of them is stored on the computer you use; deleting a record deletes its file. How we handle your account, your records and your billing details is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Shared folders. On Pro you can share a folder with anyone by their email address. They see the folder, the records in it and the files kept with them the next time they sign in with that address, and they can add records to it. Only you can rename or delete the folder or change who it is shared with. Share a folder only with people who may see everything in it.

Shared workspaces. On a Team plan, the team is a shared workspace. Every member can see the sites, filed records and notes that any member has filed, can edit a shared site, and can open a record file that its owner chose to store in the account. Only the person who added a site, or the team’s owner or an admin, can delete it; a note or a stored file can be changed or removed only by whoever made it. Anything you file while you are on a team is shared with that team, so do not file anything there that your colleagues should not see. If the Team subscription ends, each member goes back to seeing only what they filed themselves; nothing is deleted.

9. Intellectual property

The tool, its interface and its documentation remain ours. Your record files and the reports you prepare remain yours. You may use reports produced with the tool for any lawful purpose, subject to these terms.

10. Acceptable use

Do not use the tool unlawfully, do not attempt to break, overload or circumvent it or its plan limits, do not share one seat between several people, and do not present its output as a certification, an accredited test result or our opinion.

11. Suspension and ending

You may stop using the tool and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that has not paid. If we stop offering the tool altogether we will give paying customers at least 30 days’ notice, refund any period paid for but not yet begun, and let you download the records you stored.

12. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for a change that matters, tell paying customers by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the tool after that means you accept the change; if you do not, you may cancel.

13. Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the consumer-protection or other mandatory law of the country where you live.
